Outlook display online status next to name greyed out skype

Although I can uncheck it, selecting "ok" or Apply does not seem to do anything b/c when I visit the same option again, it remains checked.

Okay so i think i have figured out the root cause of it not showing up, but i am still stuck on how to fix it. I have figured out that the reason the status is not showing up is because the Options in my outlook client to "Display Online Status next to name" Is not checked and greyed out.
This worked for me to allow Outlook to show the status of people when I have Teams open, but not Skype: 1) In Teams, click on your User Account Icon (photo or avatar) to the top right in the title bar. 2) Click Settings. 3) Check the “Register Teams as the chat app for Office” checkbox. 4) Restart Outlook In Outlook you have option to show online status and photographs. Go to --> File --> Options. New window will open. Click on Contacts on the left hand side. To disable "Online Presence Indicator" un-tick Display online status next to name.
