The high pressure line coming off the compressor is hot so I guess the compressor is working. High and low side pressures are pretty close to R134a vapor pressure for temps of the lines at the connectors and there's frost on the expansion valve. Could all this be caused by insufficient refrigerant? I hooked them up, cranked the AC on and found that both the high and low pressure side were reading about 130 psi. I am trying to figure out why they would both be the same. I am thinking somewhere between the high and low sides inside the compressor is plugged or exploded.

The low side gauge indicates both pressure (psi) and vacuum (in/hg). If it does not go below zero, you have a sizeable leak and will need to correct it before you continue. Assuming you are showing a vacuum, let the pump run for five minutes, close the high side valve, and turn the pump off. Note the reading on the low side gauge.Open the low side valve to allow refrigerant to enter the system. Again, this may take some time as well. If you are using disposable cans and need to swap cans close the low side petcock while swapping cans. Never open the high side valve when charging the system or else the high pressure will backfeed into the can and can cause it to explode ...One side of the systems definitely effects the other, and the classic example was him overcharging the system only looking at the low side. If he was expecting typical R22 high side pressures with MO99 (R438) R22 runs a 20 psi lower head pressure than R438. You need to have them send out a Tech that knows what he is doing. This script determines the gas pressure based on temperature of R22 refrigerant. R22 or HCFC-22 is a single component HCFC refrigerant with low ozone depletion potential. It has long been used in a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration applications in a variety of markets, including appliance, construction, food processing, and ...

Note the reading on the low side gauge. On a hot day in Texas, high side ~380 psi low ~35+. This stays relatively the same when the car is off. I would have thought this might be high side blockage, orifice tube, but I also understand high side would be low pressure if there was a blockage.

Refrigerants - Temperature and Pressure at Constant Boiling - Temperature and pressure diagram for constant boiling refrigerants - imperial and SI units; Thermodynamic Properties of Refrigerant R-22 - Properties of R-22 - vapor volume, enthalpy and entropy at pressures from 30 to 260 psiaChecking the pressures, both high side and low side were low. The thing hadn't been serviced in about 12 years, so I added R-22. This was a 5-ton unit. Two pounds of R-22 later, the low side came up to normal but the high side was still low (S.P. equal to outdoor ambient).

Jul 17, 2017 · A home A/C compressor is the engine that keeps coolant circulating through an air conditioning system. The compressor accomplishes this task by creating high and low pressure areas with the use of a moving piston in a sealed chamber. The high and low sides on a home A/C compressor are also known as its discharge and suction lines.

Low head pressure may occur simulataneously with high pressure on the suction side of an air conditioner, heat pump or refrigeration system compressor system. If the system is continuing to cool it may be doing so at reduced capacity, observed as a loss of up to ten degrees of temperature drop across the coil.

The system consists of a high-pressure and a low-pressure side. When servicing the air conditioner, it is very important to be able to distinguish between the two. Whether simply adding refrigerant to the system, or doing more extensive work, there is a simple method that will enable you to find the low-pressure side of the car's air conditioner.

Carrier has a unit with the high-pressure switch set at 610 psi. It resets at about 420 psi. The same model has a loss-of-charge liquid-line switch that opens at about 20 psi and resets at about 45 psi. Low-pressure switches are also found on the suction side. Low-pressure switches on Carrier equipment using R-410A are usually set to open at ...

Look for the two silver pipes coming out of the firewall. The larger silver pipe has the AC low pressure service port sticking out the top with a black dust cap. You can't really mess up the connections, as the low pressure port diameter is smaller than the high pressure port diameter, so the attachments are built to spec.

Pressure was about 100psi on the low side, and 80psi on the high side with the engine and ac switched on and the compressor clutch engaged. My guess was that the compressor was bad. Slapped in a spare used compressor with a new drier, ran a vacuum for almost an hour.

Figured it out! Low side readings are suction when the compressor is running - so 75 was dropping to 20, the low side limit switch stopped the compressor, and it when back to 75 - approximately static pressure in an a/c system. solution was to jumper the low side switch to keep the compressor running - low side reading of about 20psi -

Now at this point the low side pressure should be a bit high 30-40 maybe less depending on your system. Wait about 5 minutes for this pressure to stabilize check and see if the evaporator is cold it will at this point with most refrigerants.

High side <200psi. Low side <50 lb. "A good rule of thumb with R134a is to run fan on High with all windows open and engine at 1500 rpm. High side pressure in PSI should be about 2.2 to 2.5 times ...

A low-side pressure reading is a text book example of a restriction within the refrigerant system. Several defective or clogged components can be responsible for this condition. The most common cause is a clogged orifice tube. The high-side pressure is evaluated due to the fact that the compressor is attempting to correct the issue. What if the ...

Pressure Range The range of a pressure switch is the minimum to maximum pressure at which the switch can be set. Because refrigeration systems have two basic pressure areas, high side and low side, pressure switches are often described as either high or low pressure switches, based on which side of the refrigeration system the switch is designed to operate.

SUCTION SIDE - Low side pressure (from expansion valve orifice to intake reed valve in compressor) . SUCTION THROTTLING - Control used to regulate flow of refrigerant from the evaporator to condenser. SUPERHEAT - Added heat intensity to a gas after complete evaporation of a liquid; controlled by increasing pressure in air conditioning systems.

  • The liquid pressure will initially be low which will make the system appear undercharged. When refrigerant is added to the system, the liquid pressure will rise but the suction pressure will remain low. At this point, you should be able to identify there is a problem in the liquid circuit. If subcooling is measures, at this time, it will be high.
